Financial Literacy programme for women
The Financial Literacy programme started with the two objectives one is to support the women to make better spending, savings and investment decisions; second one is to promote women's economic decision-making capacity within the household. The training was helpful to promote positive attitudes toward saving, more prudent spending and borrowing for sound reasons and it deals with the problem of indebtedness. The training was held on 23rd of August 2014 in Marialaya, Coimbatore. About 50 women participated in the financial literacy training programme. The Resource person Mr. Maria Vasantha Kumar, Programme Coordinator, Auxilium ARUWYE explained about family income, expenditure, savings and loan. It was an interactive session were the woman shard their experience in the topics which were discussed.
In the second session women were divided into 5 groups and each group were given case studies which described problems and the participants had to explore their ideas to solve it financially. In the same group the women prepared a budget for their family celebration, to start business and how to manage other financial crisis. The women learned to handle and manage money for their happy life during the training programme.
