On July 31, 2024, ARUWYE organized a significant awareness program titled “Human Trafficking is Exploitation of Human Rights.” The event was attended by 100 women and also streamed live on YouTube, reaching a broader audience.

Sr. Isabella extended a warm welcome to all attendees and the esteemed resource person. Ms. Selshiya served as the Master of Ceremonies, ensuring the smooth flow of the event. S. Sathya led all participants in taking a solemn oath against human trafficking, reinforcing the collective commitment to combating this grave issue.

Ms. Mathelene, an advocate at the Madras High Court, was the resource person for the event. She has extensively researched human trafficking and submitted a dissertation titled “Human Trafficking – A Critical Study on Modern Slavery.” Her comprehensive presentation covered the following key topics:

Participant Sharing:

Mrs. Sumila, one of the participants, shared a poignant story about her maid’s daughter who was exposed to human trafficking through online platforms. This personal account underscored the pervasive and insidious nature of human trafficking. Additionally, Mrs. Kamala, a staff member at ARUWYE, shared a case encountered at a government school, further illustrating the widespread impact of this issue.
