A LAUNCH TO SAVE CHILDREN
Auxilium ARUWYE launched on creating public awareness to bring out collective action for the protection and promotion of children rights. ‘Child Protection Dynamics for Campaign against Child Abuse’ was conducted in fourteen districts of Tamilnadu. From October 1025 people who are members of SHGs and VIDES movement, Evening study center teachers, school teachers, Sisters, Contact period candidates and Novices were given awareness about Child rights, child abuse and the Legal Framework for Child Protection. The sessions aimed at:
- Building the capacity of duty bearers to deliver effective care and protection
- Creating community awareness about child protection in order to enable the communities to own up their responsibilities towards protecting children from all abuses.
The participants later ventured into planning activities like conducting rallies, human chains, organizing cultural events, creating awareness through posters, pamphlets, stickers and screening of Video clippings in schools and public places as a means to create awareness and call for greater commitment to the cause.
The hearts of the participants were set ablaze to take drastic steps to protect children from child abuse. The sessions have opened the critical mind of the participants to examine the people to whose care parents entrust their children during their absence. They have also become alert to keep watch on the movement of their children. The sessions on the rights of children enabled parents and teachers to realize the feelings of children and they pledged to become sensitive towards their expressions and to respect their views.
The first phase of having created an urge to set the flame of protecting children ablaze is now in progress to venture into campaigns as a sign of our protest against child abuse and a call to own up responsibilities towards children.
