Child Rights Day - Rally

Child protection dynamics for campaign against child abuses was organized by Auxilium ARUWYE the Social Development Office of Chennai Province following the initiative of National Development Forum (NDF) in collaboration with TNCRO and CACL along with the cultural team named "RISE". “RISE” is a volunteer movement formed by the 50 College students from Madras School of Social Work, Madras Christian College, Dr. M.R College and Vaishnava College to raise voice against injustice done to children. The members of “RISE” shared the message through Street plays in 30 Spots in and around Chennai from 15th -21st November 2014. Street plays were performed in different areas in collaboration with the other NGOs namely: Nesakkaram, Arunodaya, Anbagam, Thozamai, Marialya and BSAC.

On 20th November 2014 ‘The Child Rights Day Rally’ was organized in Marina Beach to mark the 25th anniversary of the UNCRC. 200 members from various NGOs, College students and volunteers gathered together at 4 p.m near Gandhi Statue in Maria Beach for the rally. We marched a head shouting slogans which were a clarion call to rise and save our children for various abuses and to ensure their rights. People stopped and listened to our call and stopped as audience to watch the performance of the street play. The interactions with the people explained the impact of our effort. Many of them expressed that they were not aware of the child rights and the Laws regarding the violation of child rights. Through this launch to save our children we have created a heat wave across the city to protect our children and to make our society a healthy place for their growth.

We thank all who supported our effort and made it a grand success.
Our special thanks to Mr. Andrew Sesuraj (State convener, TNCRO), Mr.Vigetheran the trainer and organizer, the members of "RISE" and to all the NGOs and volunteers who collaborated with us
