Students from the Social Work department of Loyola College in Chennai recently had the unique opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the impactful work carried out by the Association for Rural Upliftment and Women Empowerment (ARUWYE). The visit aimed at providing students with a deeper understanding of ARUWYE's mission and the various activities it undertakes in the realms of social work.
The day commenced with a warm welcome by Sr. Isabella, who introduced the students to the dedicated team at ARUWYE. Sr. Isabella provided a comprehensive overview of ARUWYE's vision, mission, goals, objectives, and its funding sources, setting the stage for an enlightening experience.
Mr. Praveen, ARUWYE's Program Coordinator, delved into the crucial topics of Child Protection and Social Work Intervention. He elucidated the significance of the Child Parliament, Child Protection Policy, and the Constitution of India. Mr. Praveen also shed light on the broader context of social work, emphasizing ARUWYE's impactful interventions in the areas of women, children, and youth.
Mrs. Kamala Mary, ARUWYE's Women Coordinator, engaged the students in understanding the workings and importance of self-help groups in empowering women. She shared practical insights into how these groups serve as catalysts for positive change within communities.
Ms. Divya Sree, a dedicated member of ARUWYE's team, discussed National Development Forum projects and sponsorship opportunities available through the organization. This segment provided students with a glimpse into the broader national initiatives and avenues for support that ARUWYE facilitates.
The session was not just informational but also interactive. ARUWYE organized engaging activities to encourage students to share their own visions and aspirations. This hands-on approach allowed the students to connect with the organization's work on a personal level.
