The Multi-congregational Project Input Session held on 5th and 6th April 2024 focused on the usage of digital tools and cyber safeguarding. The session was conducted by Fr. Sajith from Mumbai and was attended by people from each province who are working on this project.

 

Day 1: Online Education Challenges and Possibilities

 

Fr. Sajith started the session by discussing the challenges and possibilities of online education. He highlighted the types of online learning, online learning portals, platforms, resources, and assessment methods. The session also covered the advantages and disadvantages of online learning and addressed cyber threats, including cyber security for children and teachers. Fr. Sajith elaborated on cyber bullying, online sexual harassment, and legal compliance. He concluded the day with a discussion on the future of education, particularly focusing on AI.

 

Day 2: Digital Parenting

 

The second day centered on digital parenting in the digital age. Fr. Sajith explained the characteristics of the digital generation, including digital natives and immigrants. He discussed parental attitudes and knowledge of digital technology, as well as different parenting styles in the digital era. The session covered topics such as children's mental and physical health, sociability, and learning in the digital age. Fr. Sajith also addressed digital addiction and provided strategies to overcome it.

 

Fr. Sajith emphasized the importance of digital safety, including managing privacy online, protecting against cyberbullying, and preventing exposure to inappropriate content. He highlighted the need for online anonymity and discussed the risks of online predators. Fr. Sajith also touched upon the concept of digital citizenship and the importance of leaving a positive digital footprint.

 

The Multi-congregational Project Input Session provided valuable insights into the usage of digital tools and cyber safeguarding. Participants gained a deeper understanding of online education, digital parenting, and digital safety, empowering them to navigate the digital world responsibly.
